Stockton Rush was born in San Francisco, California, to Ellen Stockton and Richard Stockton on 31st March 1962. He was the last born of five children.
Stockton Rush always wanted to be an astronaut as a child and be the first person to go to Mars. He had a passion for aviation and aquatics and started scuba-driving by 12.
When he was 18 years old, he started to do some commercial piloting but could not continue to become a military aviator due to his visual acuity.

Before attaining his MBA, he worked as a Flight Test Engineer for the F-16 program at McDonnell Douglas. Later on, he worked as a Venture Capitalist at Peregrine Partners.
Stockton Rush started gaining interest in marine and ocean exploration in 2006 and decided to get his submarine.
Due to the unavailability of submarines for sale, Stockton Rush saw an opportunity to open an avenue for underwater exploration, and that is when he founded OceanGate with Guillermo Sohnlein in 2009.
Stockton Rush Demise
Stockton Rush was officially declared dead on 18th June 2023 after the submarine they were in was imploded near the Titanic wreckage.
The submarine Titan had five people on board, including Rush, Shazhada Dawood, his son, and two other passengers who enjoyed exploration.
